House Sponsorship
Battling on their knees on the front lines for every child in their home...Opening their door and hearts to care for children who survived tragic circumstances...Dedicating their lives to modeling what healthy family relationships are supposed to look like. This is just a fraction of what our house parents are called to be and do.
House Sponsorship allows you to come alongside them in their calling. In addition to providing specific funding for each house, the sponsorship also ensures each of our house parents’ and house helpers’ salaries are paid. In the past, when funds have run low these families have gone without pay, sometimes for months, and this sponsorship prevents that from happening.
$2000/month
Currently only Casa Daniel and Casa Ester need House Sponsors
Casa Samuel
Situated at the top of the hill is Casa Samuel, one of our four boys houses. Rony and Yesenia have been house parents for nine years. Yesenia taught in the school before she became a house mom. In addition to their two daughters, Rony and Yesenia parent 10 boys. Sometimes referred to as the “cool” house, with many of the older teenage boys living here, this house loves playing soccer and basketball. They can also be found enjoying a quiet evening working on a puzzle. As major sports fans, they closely follow March Madness and other sports events. Despite their cool exterior, these boys are very sweet and loving and care for one another so well.
As most of the house dads do, Rony also helps drive children to doctors appointments or court dates and picks up donations. Yesenia shared this with us. “Casa Bernabé, for me, has been a very important place where I have been able to serve and learn a lot. It is an incomparable place where God restores lives, not only of children, but also of adults. I have many years of service and still feel the same passion as if it were the first day. In all this time God has been faithful.”
Casa Nueva Esperanza
The house parents in Casa Nueva Esperanza are Mario and Alejandra, along with their two-year-old son. Mario has been serving as the Director of the Transition and Vocational Programs before agreeing to take on the role of house parents this year. Alejandra also serves in the Clinic as our Dental Assistant. Although Mario and Alejandra are our newest set of house parents, they have already had the opportunity to serve the kids in their house and build rapport with them. They serve alongside house helper Caty, who has been covering various houses within the past year and helping wherever she is needed at Casa Bernabé.
The boys in this house range from 8 to 18 years old and love playing Wii and MarioKart. The younger boys also enjoy playing with marbles and building Legos. You can often find them outside in the basketball court playing various sports or chilling outside on the picnic table. They have fit into their roles as “Big Brothers” and love playing with and caring Mario and Alejandra’s little one. They love joking with each other and playfully bantering at the dinner table, talking about all the fun things they did that day.
Casa Daniel
The house parents in Casa Daniel are Juan Pablo and Denise, serving with their daughter, who has grown up at Casa Bernabé. The boys in this house love playing with her, and seeing them care for her is so special to witness. For a long time, this house was without a house helper, but that prayer has been answered and Javier has moved in to help with the boys. He also works part time in the kitchen.
One of the strengths of this house is having extremely flexible parents. Denise and Juan Pablo rely on the Lord, and it is evident in the way they lead their house. After they put the little kids to bed, many nights they love to stay up later and play fun games with the older kids. Juan Pablo worked at a game store before coming to Casa Bernabé, so he loves teaching the boys new games, and they're very competitive. They like classic card games like 3-13 and Rummy, Settlers of Catan, Uno, Battleship, and Checkers.
In addition to playing games, they love watching NFL and college football games. The boys were also recently given a classic Nintendo console, and they're very into playing Mario Brothers. They also enjoy playing with HotWheels, trains, and flying kites. If they're not inside playing a game, they're outside playing sports.
Casa David
Casa David’s house parents, Sergio and Vivian, began serving as house parents in 2024 after having previously served as the gate guards. They joined house helper, Luis, who also works in the school as the art teacher. Sergio and Vivian have two sons and one daughter who share their parents with a group of 10 boys from ages 7 to 17. They also have a dog named Dory who keeps the boys entertained and gives them responsibility.
The boys in this house are very active and can be found all across campus playing soccer, volleyball and basketball, or playing on the playground. These boys need to be doing something at all times and can become bored very easily, so Sergio often takes them to explore the woods on campus. They play hide and seek, and use their imaginations pretending to be in the movie Indiana Jones.
Vivian is one of the best cooks in Guatemala and often prepares typical Guatemalan cuisine for the boys. She finds ways for the boys to help in the kitchen and learn to cook. During the week, the boys wind down playing various board games and card games. They love playing games that work their brains and help develop thinking skills. Weekends are reserved for relaxing and watching movies. That is, until the boys get bored and want to play outside again. We are grateful for Sergio and Vivian and their endless energy they have to care for these boys.
“Each story of an orphan child begins with a tragedy. And it usually gets worse. If we open our home to these children, it means that we will also feel their pain. Adoption reflects the gospel not only in its beauty, but also in the pain that accompanies it”
Casa Hosana
Casa Hosana’s house parents, Wilmer and Fernanda, have previously served for several years in Casa David and have returned to Casa Bernabé to serve in Casa Hosana. Wilmer is jokingly referred to as the “prodigal son” for coming back and serving again. Together they have two daughters who share their parents with a group of up to 10 girls from ages 5 to 18. They also brought with them their two dogs, which have brought so much joy to the house.
Over half the girls in this house have special needs, so Wilmer and Fernanda love thinking of creative ways to keep them stimulated and busy. With Wilmer being our new soccer coach, you will often find the girls playing soccer. Fernanda also plays on our women’s team and loves cheering the girls on. For this house, structure and cleanliness is imperative, and chores are a part of their daily routine. They take pride in their abilities to make their beds and keep their rooms organized.
The girls love dressing up, playing with dolls, dance parties, arts and crafts, and volleyball. Wilmer proudly cares for his garden, and the girls love helping him water the plants. On hot days, the girls can typically be found outside playing in the sprinkler or having a picnic. Something surprising about this house is that they also love action movies and always look forward to movie nights with popcorn!
Casa Promesa
Casa Promesa’s house parents, Leonel and Meylin, have served as house parents since 2017 and work alongside house helper Ana Rebecca. They have two daughters who share their parents with a group of 10 other girls.
The girls in Promesa like to play board games and soccer. When taking a break from school work and vocational classes, the older girls love watching TV series, and have been loving Korean and Turkish Dramas on Netflix. Once they finish their chores, the younger girls can be found playing on the trampoline and the playground. The older girls are amazing examples for the younger ones and have had plenty experience helping take care of them. With the busy schedule during the week, Leonel and Meylin take advantage of down time to spend quality time with the girls and join them in all their hobbies and interests. They enjoy spending time together as a family and do an amazing job cultivating a true family dynamic.
We asked Leonel and Meylin what makes Casa Bernabé so special to them: “We know Casa Bernabé is a ministry loved by God. And in this time that has been so difficult for all of humanity, we have realized even more of the Lord’s love and faithfulness to all of us, his children. It is our privilege to serve here.”
Casa Ester
The Casa Ester family includes the house parents, Danny and Nancy, their two daughters, the new house helper, Monica, and her daughter. Together, they care for a total of eight girls. Casa Ester loves all things fun and recently got a projector so they can watch movies on the wall in their living room. They've been having weekly movie nights that include lots of snacks.
Another fun activity the whole family loves is going on walks together. They recently repaired three bicycles so the younger girls can ride along with their walks. The whole family also looks forward to Tony's weekly visit and a competitive game of 3-13.
After school they take turns doing homework and helping out with some of the household chores. When the work is done, the younger girls can almost always be found outside jumping on the trampoline.
Nancy and Danny frequently lead worship in church, and some of the girls have started singing and dancing as part of the worship team. It's beautiful to see the whole family leading the rest of Casa Bernabé in worship together.
Casa Alabanza
The house parents in Casa Alabanza, Luis and Glendi, have been serving at Casa Bernabé for four years. In addition to their two daughters, they're caring for seven more girls, including a newborn baby, and three boys. Because of the special needs of one of the boys, and having a toddler and an infant, this house has two dedicated house helpers, Jaquelin and Zoila. These house helpers, along with Luis and Glendi truly have a heart for all of these children, and their patience and kindness can be felt and seen upon entering the house.
Luis also dabbles in the cooking world and makes bread for all of Casa Bernabe. The kids help out in the kitchen when they can and love learning from him. You have not lived until you have tried Luis’ tacos and his famous ceviche!
The girls also enjoy coloring, making bracelets, and playing board games. They also love being outside and playing in the sun. The girls have been loving classic outdoor games like hopscotch, jacks, and Skip It. Recently, a few teams have visited and made bracelets with the girls and even made slime!
Child & Family Sponsorship
Child and Family Sponsorship allows you, as a sponsor, a relationship with the entire house, not just one child. And for our children, they are ALL sponsored. No matter how long they are with us, each of them knows that thousands of miles away they have someone who cares for them and prays for them. For $120 per month, you help provide essentials like food, clothing, and spiritual guidance for a child, and you ensure the salaries of the important care givers in their lives–the house parents and house helpers–are always paid.
