Storyteller Series - Our Moms - Meet Dennise

We asked each of our house moms the same set of questions, everything from their greatest joy in serving at Casa Bernabé, to raising their own children alongside our Casa Bernabé kids, proud mom moments, and some of their favorite pictures of themselves as a mom.

Today we are excited to introduce you to Dennise, house mom to our boys in Casa Daniel.

1.     How long have you been at Casa Bernabé?

I have been working at the school for almost 3 years and a half years as the Primary School Director. On May 5, I completed my first year of being the house mom in Casa Daniel.

3. What is your greatest joy in serving in Casa Bernabé?

My greatest joy is to see my kids achieve their goals. Also, seeing how they are able to improve their behaviors and habits.

3.     What breaks your heart?

My heart hurts when one of the boys responds badly to me or is not grateful for what he has or what we do for him. I know that for them it is also difficult and God fills me with His love every time I weaken.

4.     What are some of the proud "mom" moments of this past year for any of the children in your home?

Seeing how the two newest boys are improving in adapting to life in our house. The boys are having less tantrums and becoming more obedient. Also, seeing the boys set goals to obtain good grades in their classes and then seeing them achieve it. Walking together as a family fills my heart in a great way.

5.     What does it mean to you to be a mom?

For me being a mom has been a challenge and a blessing that I never imagined having. Through the boys, God has taught me to love and understand many things in my own life, to be patient and tolerant, to let the little things go and to enjoy the big and small moments of life with the boys.

6. How can we help you better?

Please pray for my husband and I. We are expecting our first child. We pray now that our beloved baby is well and in the same way, we pray that the Lord will fill us with His love to bless the lives of our children.
