Local In-Kind Donations in Guatemala Cover Many of Our Basic Needs

While we're celebrating this season of thankfulness, it's important to highlight our local Guatemalan donors. 20% of our annual funding comes from local donations, and a further 10% of our needs are covered by in-kind donations from local individuals and businesses.
For example, we get 80% of the eggs we need each year from a local business, along with 20% of our lettuce, zucchini, cabbage, and potatoes, and 100% of our flour, oatmeal, incaparina, and bananas.
Most of our personal care items are provided through in-kind donations, including 100% of our toilet paper, napkins, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Another local business provides us with 15% of the cleaning supplies we need each year.
70% of the medicines needed in the clinic are covered by an in-kind donation in Guatemala.
We also have local donors who cover 100% of the chicken we need each year, one monthly dinner worth of ground beef, and two monthly dinners' worth of pizza for everyone.
Finally, a local donor also covers 100% of the cost of the instructors for our bakery and esthetics/beauty vocational training programs.
Each of these donations by Guatemalan businesses reduces the amount of money we need to raise to cover basic needs. Each gift represents a growing local ownership of caring for children in crisis in this country, and we're so thankful!
