Meet the Team: Keily
WRITTEN BY EMILY TUTTLE
Our Featured Staff Member this week is Keily Sapon. Keily works with our Vocational Program, and she's grown up at Casa Bernabé as a staff child (her mother, Aurelia, has been one of our amazing chefs for many years), so if anyone knows this ministry inside and out it's her. We asked her some questions to help you get to know her.
What is your role here at Casa Bernabé and how long have you been here?
My main role is assisting with all of the vocational classes. I communicate with those giving the classes, coordinate the schedule for each vocation, and make sure all the supplies are ready. I also work with our kids making a life plan for each of them when they turn 13 years old, helping guide them as they are in their teenage years. I will complete five years in this role in March of next year.
What is your favorite part of your position?
To see the results of every vocation. For example when they finish making the balloon arches seeing the final results, or when they finish baking the cakes, and also being able to taste them. To be able to see the teens apply what they have learned in their real lives, that is the most rewarding.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
The hardest part is working with the teens when their attitudes aren't the best, because they don’t always have a mindset that is ready to collaborate with us or with their teachers.
What is a fun fact about you?
I love cats, and my cat on campus is famous with all of the visitors. His name is Loki, and he's super friendly, but at first I thought he was a girl so I named him Luna and then had to change is name.
What do you want people to know about what you do at CB?
I actually grew up here in Casa Bernabé since I was a baby. My mom came to work here when she was pregnant with me, so I grew up here, went to school here until I graduated high school, and now I am serving at the same place that helped form me in my childhood.
Please include Keily and Aurelia in your prayers and thank God with us for their years of faithful service at Casa Bernabé!
